Professional Layout Design for Precision Laser Work
The quality of a finished laser product depends entirely on the quality of the digital file. We transform your ideas, rough sketches, or raster images into technically flawless vector data, ensuring error-free execution on our CO2 and Fiber laser systems.
Many clients provide drafts in formats that are unsuitable for the precise control of a laser head. A simple JPG or PNG is often insufficient because the laser requires paths—mathematical lines—that it can follow with absolute precision. Our layout design service bridges the gap between your creative vision and technical feasibility.
Whether it is the vectorization of a corporate logo, the creation of technical drawings for enclosures, or the artistic design of personalized gifts, we ensure that line weights, cutting paths, and engraving areas are exactly defined. This prevents material waste and ensures sharp edges and intricate details in every piece.

File Analysis
We examine your existing files (PDF, JPG, PNG, or hand sketches) for detail level, resolution, and technical viability for the chosen material.
Vectorization
Manual tracing of your drafts using professional CAD software to ensure clean Bezier curves and exact dimensions, avoiding the jagged edges of automatic conversion.
Technical Optimization
Assignment of specific colors for different laser operations (e.g., Red for cutting, Blue for engraving) and verification of minimum bridge radii for material stability.
Final Approval
You receive a digital draft for review. Once confirmed, the file is transferred directly into the production queue at our Vienna workshop.
Who needs our layout design services?
Our file preparation support is designed for a wide range of clients. Many small businesses in Vienna require professional office signage or product markings but do not have an in-house graphics department. In these cases, we act as your technical design partner, ensuring the transition from a concept to a physical object is seamless.
Architects and designers who create complex models from acrylic or plywood also rely on our expertise to make their designs "laser-ready." Architectural drawings are often too detailed or contain overlapping lines that would cause instability during the cutting process. We optimize these paths for the physical reality of the material.
Private individuals planning a unique gift often come to us with an idea or a photograph. We transform these emotional templates into precise engraving files that look perfect on wood, leather, or metal, ensuring that the contrast and depth are optimized for the specific surface.
How the digital preparation process works
The work begins with an intensive dialogue about the end product. Since layout design is closely linked to material choice, we first discuss whether the design is suitable for the chosen material thickness (e.g., 3mm acrylic). A design that is too delicate can melt or break due to the heat generated by the laser.
In the next step, technical implementation takes place. We do not rely on simple automatic "Trace" functions, which often produce shaky edges; instead, we manually redraw critical areas. This is especially important for logos, where every curve must be perfect to maintain a professional appearance.
Finally, the file is converted into a format that our machines can control directly. During this process, we check for overlapping paths to avoid double laser passes, which reduces production time and increases the overall quality of the material finish.
What you should prepare for efficient processing
To keep layout costs low and optimize turnaround time, we recommend providing the clearest possible templates. If you already have a vector file (SVG, AI, DXF), this is the ideal starting point. If you only have images, please ensure they have high resolution and strong contrast between the motif and the background.
A simple sketch on paper with noted external dimensions is often more helpful than a vague description. Please clearly mark which areas should be engraved (solid fill or line art) and which areas should be completely cut through.
If you wish to use specific fonts, please send us the corresponding font file or the exact name of the typeface. This ensures that the typography in the finished product looks exactly as you intended, without unwanted substitutions.
The Result: What you receive at the end
Upon completion of the layout design, you receive a digital confirmation of the design. In the standard version, this layout serves as the basis for production at Barmyviro. We ensure that the result matches the dimensions we agreed upon exactly.
After full payment for the service, we can provide you with the final vector draft upon request. This is particularly valuable for B2B clients who wish to use their designs in the future for different materials or with different providers.
In addition to the file, you receive technical documentation of the chosen parameters (e.g., engraving depth or cutting sequence), should this be relevant for your internal records or for the quality control of your own product line.
Timeline and Delivery
The duration of the layout design depends heavily on the complexity of the draft. Simple vectorization of a logo typically takes 1 to 2 working hours. Complex technical drawings or multi-part assembly kits can take several days to complete.
We strive for a quick response within our business hours. Once the file is completed and approved by you, the actual production time begins, which averages 5-7 days. For urgent projects, we offer an express option that is prioritized for an additional fee of 30%.
What is NOT included in Layout Design
Please note that our service covers technical preparation and optimization, but does not include comprehensive artistic brand consulting or the design of a complete Corporate Identity system. We implement your vision technically, but we do not create logos from scratch.
We refuse to create layouts that contain protected trademarks or third-party logos without the appropriate permission from the rights holder. Legal responsibility for the graphics used rests entirely with the client.
Furthermore, layout design is a separate service. The costs for materials and the actual laser process (cutting/engraving) are not included in the hourly design rates and are billed separately according to our price list.
Pricing and VAT
Billing for layout design is based on an hourly rate. This guarantees fair pricing, as simple corrections do not require the same effort as a complete redraw.
All stated prices include the statutory Austrian VAT of 20%. For our business customers (B2B), we list the net amount separately to facilitate input tax deduction. Payment is made according to our Terms and Conditions, with a 50% deposit required for new customers based on the estimated layout costs.
| Service | Price incl. 20% VAT | Price excl. VAT | Unit |

Frequently Asked Questions about Layouts
Can I just send my file as a PDF?
Yes, PDFs are often very suitable, provided they contain vector data. However, if the PDF only contains an embedded image, we will need to vectorize it as part of the layout service so the laser can follow precise paths.
What happens if I want to change the design after vectorization?
Changes after final approval and before production are possible, but will be billed as additional working time. We therefore recommend reviewing the pre-preview very carefully.
How do I know if my logo is "laser-ready"?
A simple sign is whether you can scale the logo to any size without loss of quality. If it becomes pixelated, it is a raster graphic and must be vectorized. For more details, visit our Guide to File Preparation.
